Frequently Asked Questions About "WebFiles"
Q: What is "WebFiles"? I've never heard of it and/or don't know what it's for.
A: WebFiles is storage space allocated to each student, staff/faculty member and student organization enabling them to maintain a website.
Student --> http://www.student.richmond.edu/~netid
Faculty/Staff --> http://facultystaff.richmond.edu/~netid
Student Organization --> http://studentorg.richmond.edu/orgname
Q: How do I access my new WebFiles storage?
A: After you login to the University network, WebFiles can be reached via this path:
\\webfiles\users\<letter>\<netid> where <letter> is the first letter of your netid.
For example, someone with a netid of "zjones" would have a WebFiles account accessible at \\webfiles\users\z\zjones.
If you are managing a student organization, the path will be:
\\webfiles\org\<orgname> where <orgname> may be an abbreviation of your student organization. Student organization leaders receive this information at the beginning of the semester.
Student --> \\webfiles\users\<letter>\<netid>
Faculty/Staff --> \\webfiles\users\<letter>\<netid>
Student Organization --> \\webfiles\org\<orgname>
