E-mail Forwarding
Any Richmond community member with an e-mail account may choose to forward their mail to any other e-mail address.
Instructions for Setting Up E-mail Forwarding
SpiderMail (IMAP) users- Go to the UR e-mail forwarding Web page
- Enter your NetID and password
- In the space provided, enter the forwarding e-mail address
- Click on the "set forward" button
Microsoft Exchange users
Follow the instructions above. This will forward all e-mail for non-exchange users. You will also have to set up forwarding within the exchange server for the local exchange users.
Redirect mail from Outlook to another account
- Open Outlook on your computer (do not use Web version)
- Click on your "contacts" folder
- Click on "new" button in top left of screen to make a new contact (you are going to create a new contact for yourself with the e-mail address you want to forward all your e-mail to)
- In the "full name" box put something similar to "Joe's Yahoo account" or something that will identify it so you can find it later.
- In the "e-mail" box type in the e-mail address you will be forwarding to, then hit the "tab" button.
- Click the "save and close" button at top left when finished.
- Highlight the Inbox folder.
- Click on "tools - rules wizard" (Rules and Alerts).
- Click on "new rule."
- Choose "start from a blank rule" and make sure "check messages when they arrive" is highlighted, then click on "next."
- Leave all options on this page blank and then click "next."
- This will bring up "This rule will apply to every message you receive. Is this correct?" Choose "yes."
- "The what to do with the message" box will appear. Put a check box next to "redirect it to people or distribution list" and also next to "delete it" (this will redirect all messages and delete it from Outlook mailbox so you don't run out of space).
- Choose "people or distribution list" in the bottom pane of same screen.
- The Rule Address window will appear. Type the e-mail address in the TO:\ line and click "OK."
- Click on "next"
- Click "next" again (you don't want to create any exceptions).
- Specify "name" for the rule.
- Click on "finish"
- Click on "OK" to close the Rules Wizard (Rules Alert) box.
- Close Outlook
