E-mail Access

SpiderMail (Unix-based e-mail, IMAP4)

Students and some faculty and staff members use SpiderMail, a Web interface that provides an easy, fast way to access e-mail from anywhere on or off campus. It can also be accessed by other common e-mail readers such as Outlook Express or Netscape Communicator. We prefer that users not using the Web interface configure this software for IMAP4 connections. This prevents problems created by POP3 connections into user mailboxes. Find out more from the SpiderMail frequently asked questions.

New adjunct faculty and service maintenance staff will assigned to SpiderMail. Existing faculty and administrative and support staff may request to be moved from the Unix-based e-mail to Exchange e-mail at any time by contacting the Help Desk.

Exchange Accounts

Administrative staff, support staff, and full-time faculty are assigned to Microsoft Exchange, which uses MS Outlook or Entourage as the mail reader. Exchange gives the user a friendly interface to e-mail and also provides scheduling software and a place where departments can have sharable department e-mail folders and calendars. The majority of our administrative offices use Exchange and many faculty have moved into this environment. There is also an Exchange Web interface called Outlook Web Access.

Find out how to set up Entourage or Apple Mail to read your Exchange mail.
