Apple Mail Setup

To complete your e-mail migration to the new server using Apple Mail, please follow these instructions.

  1. Launch Apple Mail
  2. In the Mail Menu at the top of your screen, select "Preferences..."
  3. On the Accounts pane, select your Exchange account and enter "exchangemail.richmond.edu" in both the Incoming Mail Server and Outlook Web Access Server fields
  4. Click the menu where it says "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" and select "Edit Server List"
  5. On the Account Information tab, verify that the Server Name field is set to "smtp.richmond.edu"
  6. Click the Advanced tab, check the "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" box, ensure there is no authentication, and click "OK"
  7. Now back in the accounts tab of Preferences..., click on the Advanced tab. Check the "Use SSL" box. Ensure that "Port" is 993, and the Authentication menu is set to "Password."
  8. Your settings have been updated and Mail is now pointing at the new server. Close the Preferences window and save your settings. Quit Mail. The next time you launch Apple Mail, the changes will take effect.
