Network & Internet

The University of Richmond's network provides secure access to the Internet and administrative systems. Students, faculty, and staff can connect to the network while on campus or off campus. 

Visitors to the University who wish to access the network can connect to our public wireless network (VisitUR). 

Windows

Mac OS X

  1. Uninstall All current Antivirus that is installed on your computer.
  2. Install Antivirus:

Linux

Linux computers are supported on the campus network. However, ClearPass and Sophos aren't supported for Linux computers. Once a Linux computer is connected to the network, you must contact the Help Desk to get the computer manually registered on the network. 

On Campus: Connect Wired/Wireless Network

While on campus, students, staff, and faculty can access the University network through the campus-wide wireless network (urwin), or via one of the ethernet jacks across campus. All users who wish to access the network must have an active University network account (NetID and password). All buildings on the University's campus and many outdoor areas have fast, reliable wireless network services. The wireless network blankets the campus with coverage and facilitates traditional and informal learning opportunities unconstrained by place and formal structure. 

Faculty, staff, and students can connect to the University network with either a wired or wireless connection.
