Set Up Wireless for Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard"

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Select "Network."
  3. Click the lock at the bottom left portion of the window.
  4. Authenticate with an admin user ID (may be your user name if you have administrative privileges).
  5. Click on Airport in the upper-left column
  6. Click the "Advanced" button at the bottom-right portion of the window.
  7. From the advanced settings, click the "802.1x" tab.
  8. Click the "+" button in the lower left-hand corner and select "Add User Profile".
  9. Type in "urwin" into the upper field.
  10. Enter your NetID and network password.
  11. Uncheck TTLS from the authentication list and drag PEAP to the top of the list.
  12. Select urwin in Wireless Network drop-down.
  13. Click "OK" and then click "Apply".
  14. Click "Connect" in the main Network window.
  15. An 802.1x authentication message will pop up asking you to verify certificate. Click "Show Certificate".
  16. Check the box beside "Always trust "cppm.richmond.edu".
  17. Authenticate with an admin user ID (may be your user name if you have administrative privileges).
  18. Click "OK".
  19. If you notice the certificate message isn't going away and you are getting the spinning beachball you may need to authenticate again using an admin ID and password (may be your user name if you have administrative privileges). The authenication window will be behind the certificate window. 
  20. Check System Preferences again. Once it says "Authenticated via PEAP..." you should be able to connect to the internet. You may have to turn the Airport off and on again before this message appears.
