Remove RealPHX Ads
1.) Change your Internet Explorer or Netscape start page
For Internet Explorer users:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Select "Tools," "Internet Options"
- In the Home section you will see an Address box. Type "http://spidermail.richmond.edu"
- Select "Apply" and then "OK"
- Close all IE windows
For Netscape users:
- Open Netscape Navigator
- Select "Edit," "Preferences"
- In the Home page section you will see an Address box. Type "http://spidermail.richmond.edu"
- Select "OK"
- Close all Netscape windows
2.) Close the programs that were installed from the Web link
- Close all programs so you see your current desktop running. Press Ctrl + alt + delete keys at the same time. A Windows security window will appear. Select "Task Manager."
- When the Task Manager window appears, select the "Processes" tab. Under the column Image Name, you will see many files *.exe listed. Look for mshta.exe and av.exe. Select them one at a time and click "End Process." Then close the Windows Task Manager window.
3.) Delete the files that were installed from the Web link. If you are running Windows ME or XP, do steps A–J. All Windows OS should run steps C–H.
Close all programs so you see your current desktop running, select the "My Computer" icon and right click the icon so a drop down menu appears. Select "Properties."
Select the "System Restore" tab and check the box "Turn off System Restore" on all drives, then select "OK."
Select "Start," "Search For Files or Folders"
Select "All Files and Folders"
In the first window, All or part of the file name, type "mshta.exe"
Then select "Search"
When the file appears on the left hand side, select it with your mouse and hit the delete key and delete the file.
Repeat steps C through E with the av.exe file
Close all programs so you see your current desktop running. Select the "My Computer" icon and right click the icon so a drop down menu appears. Select "Properties."
Select the "System Restore" tab and uncheck the box "Turn off System Restore on all drives," then select "OK"
Select the "System Restore" tab and check the box "Turn off System Restore" on all drives, then select "OK."
Select "Start," "Search For Files or Folders"
Select "All Files and Folders"

Then select "Search"
When the file appears on the left hand side, select it with your mouse and hit the delete key and delete the file.

4.) Now, reset your AIM profile.
