Duo Security: Two-Factor Authentication

Faculty, staff, and students must enroll in the University’s Duo Security authentication service by February 5th, 2019 to access BannerWeb from off campus.

To protect against phishing and other exploits of stolen passwords, Information Services is implementing Duo Security two-factor authentication for faculty, staff, and student use of our campus VPN and access to BannerWeb from off-campus. Two-factor authentication (2FA) strengthens security by requiring two factors to verify your identity, such as something you know (NetID/password) plus something you have (mobile device/app).

The Duo app on your Android or Apple smart phone or tablet will prompt you to accept authentication after entering your NetID and password to connect to the VPN or sign in to BannerWeb.  This prevents unauthorized access even if your password has been compromised by an email phishing attack, because the remote perpetrator will not have access to your physical device. If you believe your password has been compromised, it is still important to reset it promptly or contact the University Helpdesk.

Getting ready to use Duo Security is easy. Simply click the link below to start the process.
