Blackboard is the University's "learning management system" (LMS). Over 80% of UR faculty use Blackboard for course materials, assignment submissions, online discussions, reflective journaling, tests/quizzes, and posting grades.

All academic courses are automatically created in Blackboard, around the time that registration for the semester begins. Courses are set to be unavailable to students until faculty make them available. Faculty can make each course available when they are ready through Qwickly, or by going into the course Control Panel > Customization > Properties and then making the course available.

If you have questions about Blackboard, contact Blackboard Support via phone at 804-287-6860 (M-F, 9am-5pm) or . You can also get Blackboard help by visiting our Blackboard Help blog.

Please note that Information Services will continue to follow the existing system maintenance window and Blackboard may be unavailable the third Friday night of the month for 2-4 hours beginning at 10 pm.

To login to Blackboard, visit and use your NetID and passphrase.
