Public Folders

Public Folders in Outlook are where department resources, such as shared department inboxes and calendars, are located. 

If you would like to create a new shared email address or calendar, please submit the forms below and they will be created for you: 

Permissions to Public Folder Resources

Each public folder inbox or calendar is managed by someone in that respective department. The manager of that inbox or calendar can edit the permissions at any time by logging in to our CATS Groups Management website: https://groups.richmond.edu/. Instructions for how to add/remove users can be found through our Group Management instructions. The manager for these resources is set at the time that they are created, but need to be changed when that individual leaves the department by submitting the appropriate form below. 

If your department has a student worker that needs access to a department inbox or calendar, please contact the Help Desk so that the student can get an Exchange account created for them. Once that is created, the manager will be able to give the appropriate permissions to that student using the CATS Groups Management website: https://groups.richmond.edu/.

Accessing Public Folders in Outlook

Public folders are accessible in Outlook on Windows and Mac and also through Outlook Web Access. Instructions for how to access those resources can be find below. Please Note: If you were just given permissions to access a public folder, you must restart your computer before that permission will take affect.
