VPN Connections

The University of Richmond's network resources can be accessed by authenticated students, faculty, and staff using the University's Virtual Private Network (VPN) via an Internet connection. The VPN allows secure access to networked resources from a remote (off-campus) location. Security is provided by enhanced authentication and encryption technology.

Off Campus VPN - Frequently Asked Questions

Beginning October 1: DUO for VPN

To protect against phishing and other exploits of stolen passwords, Information Services is implementing Duo Security two-factor authentication for faculty, staff, and student use of our campus VPN.  Currently, individuals use only their NetID and password to connect to the VPN. Two-factor authentication (2FA) strengthens security by requiring two factors to verify your identity, such as something you know (NetID/password) plus something you have (mobile device/app).
