Security Awareness Training

Security Awareness Training is a requirement of the many regulations the University must comply with each year. All faculty and staff who access information resources must complete Security Awareness Training annually.

There has been a significant increase in cyber attacks specifically targeted at colleges and universities by cyber criminals looking to steal academic research data, personal information, and money. The online training teaches you how to identify common methods used by cyber attackers to gain access to account credentials and information systems. The training also provides tips and techniques to detect and defend against these threats.

The University has partnered with KnowBe4®, a leader in security awareness training, to offer online training that is engaging and relevant to safe computing on campus and at home. If you are a new employee or have not taken the initial security awareness training, it is still available on your TalentWeb transcript. The refresher course has been assigned to everyone who completed the initial training last year. The refresher takes about 15 minutes to complete and discusses social engineering tactics employed by hackers who want to gain access to UR systems. To receive credit for the course, please complete all sections presented. Faculty and staff may access the 2019 refresher course in UR Talent Web as well as the initial 30-minute course.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and UR are the best defense against cyber threats
