Technical and functional project managers and how they work together (roles & responsibilities)

The Technical PM is the Information Services staff member assigned to lead and coordinate the technical resources needed for the project. This could include all the steps required to get a server, interface or network up in running condition, connected to the network and accessible by all required entities.

The Functional PM is the person assigned from the requesting department to lead the project. They are responsible for the application and how it works. They will serve as the main contact for vendor interactions and assist in the transition from implementation to production.

The Technical and Functional Project Managers work as a team to ensure that all aspects of the project are considered and completed.
